Email Configuration

Your Email Configuration

This instruction is for new email server SmarterMail Enterprise 7.0. Please note your should substitute yourdomain.com with your own domain.
For example: If your domain is xxx.com, mail.yourdomain.com will be mail.xxx.com.

POP Email Setup Using Control Panel

To create, edit or delete your email accounts, go to: 
http://mail.yourdomain.com

Before domain and DNS is activated you can create at http://apsaramail.hyperresources.com/
If you just changed DNS, please allow at least 24 hours to propagate, and then your domain can only be accessible.

Web Mail Access

To use web based email you can go to http://mail.yourdomain.com

Before domain and DNS is activated you can create at http://apsaramail.hyperresources.com/ 
If you just changed DNS, please allow at least 24 hours to propagate, and then your domain can only be accessible.

POP Email Configuration (For Domain Administrator Only)

Postmaster is the domain administrator and can be used to control all other email accounts
username : postmaster@yourdomain.com
password : (Your password should be sent to you via your alternate email or by fax)

There are many features to explore in the email system and we will introduce the common ones

Creating Email Accounts (For Domain Administrator Only)

  • Login as postmaster@yourdomain.com at http://mail.yourdomain.com.
  • Click on Email Users at Domain Settings menu, you will see a list of users,
  • Click on Add Users to create new email accounts.
Please note the following:
  • Mailbox Size Limit: You need to set a mail box limit for the new user. (Default is 10MB). We recommend 100 ~ 500 MB
  • Domain Administrator: Tick this box to set this user as Domain Administrator.
User Mail Configuration Information (For Outlook, iPhone, and other mail agents)

The main info that needs to changed for configuration of email programs for retrieving of emails
  • Incoming Email Server (POP) : mail.yourdomain.com 
  • SMTP Email Server : mail.yourdomain.com
  • Username (account name) : username@yourdomain.com
  • Password: (your password)

For instance, the pop email account is user@abc.com
  • Incoming Email Server (POP) : mail.abc.com
  • SMTP Email Server : mail.abc.com
  • Username (account name) : user@abc.com
  • Password: (your password)
IMPORTANT:
In order to send out email, you must configure to allow outgoing server authenticate with same settings as incoming mail server. As shown below in Microsoft Outlook 2007.





Spam Control (For Domain Administrator Only)

Better spam control was implemented, and the server policy was set to control spam mails in the following way:

SPAM-HIGH: For highly suspicious spam mail, will be put in JUNK MAIL folder at the server, and it is not downloaded to your email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express. You can login to Web mail to check your junk mail folder, and all junk mails will be deleted after 30 days.
SPAM-MEDIUM: It will be marked SPAM-MED at the subject line and downloaded to your inbox.
SPAM-LOW: No action is taken for such emails.

However, we allow your domain override the default server settings. If you want a different action to be taken for spam mails, you can set it at Domain Spam Filtering at Domain Settings.

Anti-Virus Control (For Domain Administrator Only)

Anti-virus is set at the server, all incoming and outgoing emails will be scanned with F-Prot antivirus engine. Any emails with virus with be deleted immediately. This was set to be an automatic process, so you do not need to do anything.
